About Us

In 1898 Joseph M. Johnston Sr. started Johnston the Florist in McKeesport, Pennsylvania selling flowers at the corner of Sixth and Locust Streets. 110 years later there are 5 retail stores, with 6 acres of greenhouses where we operate Johnston’s Greenhouses Inc. our wholesale division, all owned and managed by the 4th generation Grandsons, Mark, Stevenson, and Andrew Guffey.

We have 24 hour phone coverage and same day delivery to ensure customer satisfaction meeting your every need. An order can be received that morning and on the road by afternoon.

We are continuing to serve the community, expand the business, and prepare future generations to keep Johnston the Florist “The Best in the Bloomin’ Business.” Our mission statement has always been: Quality, Value and Service and we are proud to be your hometown florist.

Products & Services
We offer a variety of products for every season. We offer the largest fresh flower inventory in Western Pennsylvania with a bouquet and arrangement department, tropical plants, gourmet fruit baskets, gift baskets, etc. We grow our own flowering plants year round at our greenhouses in Irwin, PA. We have a wide assortment of seasonal annuals, perennials, foliage, and shrubbery. In the spring & summer months we offer a wide variety of delicious vegetable and herb plants. You can find these flowers and plants available in our local garden centers.

Sympathy & Funeral Flowers: Sending a floral tribute is an appropriate way of expressing sympathy to those who have lost a loved one. We work with all of the local funeral homes so a floral tribute can be sent to a funeral service, office, or to the family's residence. We offer a variety of standing sprays, wreaths, bouquets, plants, and alter arrangements.

Hospital Delivery: We make regular trips to all of the local hospitals so whether you are celebrating the arriaval of a new baby or want to raise the spirits of a sick friend, our fresh arrangements are sure to be the perfect surprise!

Other Gifts: Card and balloon services are available with any order. We also offer a fine selection of fruit and gift baskets for delivery. Still looking for something else?
